June 11, 2025: The Department is taking a proactive response to calls for grassroots protests across the state, and all Alaska Department of Corrections facilities will be on temporary lockdown through this weekend. This action is being taken to ensure public safety, staff safety, and offender safety. While we support the public's right to lawful protest, our priority is maintaining the safety and security of our institutions. There are no known direct threats at this time. Operations will return to normal as soon as it is safe to do so.
