The Alaska Department of Corrections currently contracts with SECURUS Technologies for telephone services with family, friends and loved ones (F.F.L).
SECURUS is required to meet federal requirements as imposed by the Federal Communication Commission and the local requirements required by the Alaska Regulatory Commission for services and fees.
Inmates may only place outgoing calls and cannot receive incoming calls to their facility.
In order for inmates to place calls, a billing account needs to be established by F.F.L with SECURUS Technologies. The following billing accounts are currently available:
ADVANCE Connect: Allows family, friends and loved ones to receive collect calls from inmates and have the charges deducted automatically from the F.F.L's prepaid account.
DIRECT Bill: Allows family, friends and loved ones to receive collect calls from inmates and have the charges billed directly to the F.F.L's through SECURUS Correctional Billing Services. Credit check required.
Billing Accounts may be set up through the SECURUS website. Or by calling 1-800-844-6591.
Effective January 1, 2025, ALL calls made by an Alaska DOC inmate will cost $0.06 per minute. This includes local, interstate, and intrastate calls.
Effective February 1, 2025, ALL Alaska DOC inmates will receive two (2) "free" calls per month. The free calls will be credited to their Securus account on the first day of each month. The first two calls made in the month will be free. Free calls cannot be used at other times or accumulated. The free calls can be used to call any domestic number, and the called party is not required to have a Securus account to receive the calls.
